One of the BizCamps was held at Cuyahoga Community College in collaboration with Partnership for America’s Future. This camp was different from any other E CITY program in that for the first week the students participated in an Inventucation Academy, taught by Nick Frankovits and Gay Evans of Partnership for America’s Future. The second week focused on entrepreneurship and was

taught by Del Daniels, a NFTE instructor that E CITY flew in from New York City. Tanisha Jackson-Long and Genevieve Skettle, both current E CITY teachers, assisted the instructors and students for the duration of the program. The class ran June 14-25 from 9:00am-5:00pm. Twenty students completed the program by developing a basic business plan with the help of 14 volunteers from the community. The business plan competition and graduation was held on June 25 at Cuyahoga Community College.

The Urban League of Greater Cleveland |

E CITY’s second entrepreneurship camp was in partnership with The Urban League of Greater Cleveland. The Urban League hosted this two-week entrepreneurship camp at their downtown Prospect Avenue location. E CITY was fortunate enough to bring back, Katerina Zacharia, the NFTE instructor who taught last year’s BizCamp, to teach this program. Todd Daniel and Cliff Gates, both attending NFTE teacher training sessions this summer to become certified entrepreneurship teachers, assisted |

Katerina throughout the two weeks. The class also ran from June 14-25, 9:00am-5:00pm daily. The students took field trips to Channel 5, Costco’s and Michaels. The students also had a sales event at Wal-Mart on Saturday, June 19 where they made over $723 in sales! Eighteen volunteers devoted a total of 6 hours each to assist the students with the development of their business plans. As a result, twenty-one students completed this intensive program on June 25 as well. |

Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry |

E CITY and Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry partnered again this summer to run a BizCamp from July 6-16. This entrepreneurship camp was taught by Rodney Decipeda, an E CITY instructor and teacher at Lincoln West High School. Alisa Smedley, who also plans to attend NFTE teacher training program this August, assisted Rodney throughout the two-weeks. On the first day of class the students set-up a lemonade stand in front of Transfiguration Church located at 8614 Euclid Avenue. They quickly learned the importance of determining their economics of one unit and their pricing strategy. They also took field trips to Tim Lally Chevrolet and National City Bank. Four students completed the program and presented their business plans to a panel of judges on July 16 |
